Making Peace With Oneself

Cuba is renowned as a producer of world-class cigars, celebrated across the globe. Beyond its famous cigars, Cuba and its people carry a profoundly dynamic history, spanning Spanish colonial rule, its fight for independence, and the communist revolution.

The embargo, which began in October 1960 and remains in place today, has left life in Cuba seemingly “frozen in time.” At present, the Cuban people face numerous challenges, from unstable electricity and limited access to clean water to food and medicine shortages, all exacerbated by a deteriorating economy.

Yet, despite these hardships, the people of Cuba continue to live their days with smiles, laughter, and a resilient sense of joy. For many in other parts of the world, living under such limitations might seem impossible.

It is only through making peace with oneself and one’s circumstances that they are able to persevere—finding life, even in the midst of scarcity and adversity.
